From the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guangdong Province website this morning we get notification of a new H7N9 case – this time a 39 year-old male from Dongguan City (note: In early Nov a 3-year-old boy in  Dongguanwas hospitalized with the H7N9 virus)- who is currently listed in critical condition.

Just 50 miles from Hong Kong, Dounguan City  is a highly industrialized prefecture-level city in central Guangdong province which is divided into 32 towns (districts), and is home to more than 6 million people.  Fenggang Town, where this patient lives, sits in the far southeast edge of the city, and has a population over over 300,000.

Thus far, there is no announcement on the Hong Kong CHP or government sites, but I’ll post an update when one becomes available.  A h/t to @Pandemic_news for tweeting a link to an ifeng media story that led me to the official announcement.
